Been telling “rah rah cloud” evangelists this for a very long time. View public cloud like another tool in the box and not utopia. TBH the hyperscalers have fuelled this attitude though as it only brought them way more profits – they couldn’t care less if customers over spend.

Cloud certainly has it advantages but everyone needs to remember whatever you can do in cloud, you can do on premises as well. You need to properly assess public cloud like any other potential solution to see if it is the right way to go.
