Pulsant, an edge data centre and hybrid cloud specialist, has acquired a Manchester data centre and its clients from M247 Limited.

As a city with one of the fastest growing tech hubs in Europe, the acquisition facilitates Pulsant’s geographic expansion of its edge platform into England’s North West.

It also marks Pulsant’s first acquisition as part of its growth strategy since receiving investment from Antin Infrastructure Partners in July 2021.

The deal includes the transfer of forty clients and all M247 site staff, who continue to use the data centre for their own business as a major client of Pulsant.

As well as serving existing clients from the centre, Pulsant plans offer new businesses in the area its range of hybrid and collocated cloud services.

Rob Coupland, chief executive at Pulsant, said: “The acquisition of such a well-established and high quality facility is an important step in our strategy to bring the benefits of edge computing to every business across the UK.”

Located in a secure compound in central Manchester, the 6,500 square foot data centre has a capacity of up to 1MW of power. Further investment is planned to expand and upgrade the facility over time.

The centre will join Pulsant’s network of ten regional edge data centres across the UK in helping to deliver secure hybrid cloud services to enterprise.
